Foals: English indie-rock

Sunday: Happy music day.

Spanish Sahara is in my opinion a song which perfectly understands what a crescendo is all about. It is an intense song which leaves you there, waiting in suspense, immobilized.

Foals is an English rock (indie-rock) band from Oxford. They are “indie” in the very sense of the word “independent” as their videos and most of their album artwork is created by them or their friends.

Foals have been active since 2005 and released their first album Antidotes in March 2008. Spanish Sahara is the first song being released as a single from their second album Total Life Forever, album released in May 2010. Among all their other singles, Spanish Sahara has been the one which scored among the worst in the UK single charts, being placed 148th. In my opinion Spanish Sahara is their best single and is definitely not “chart-music”. No wonder it was number 1 in the NME top 50 songs of the year 2010! Didn’t have doubts!
