1960s Bossa Nova from Brazil: Sambalanço Trio

SUNDAY: Music Sunday

The Sambalanço Trio is a Brazilian samba-jazz group formed by Cesar Camargo Mariano (piano), Humberto Clayber (bass) and Airto Moreira (drums). The band started to play in 1964 in São Paulo, Brazil and lasted for about two years. At the very beginning they were playing in the opening shows of the João Sebastião Bar, one of the foremost Bossa Nova nightclubs in the city, there they soon became the favourite attraction. Their albums are considered some of the most important works of that period and influenced many other groups of samba and jazz.

And here is a mix of their greatest tunes and love how the vinyl’s scratches can be heard! ..From Reencontro com Sambalanço Trio, the Trio’s fourth album released in 1965.
